Monotonic and cyclic behaviour of root-reinforced sand

چکیده
Plant roots are known to provide mechanical reinforcement soils upon shearing and seismic loading. However, the effects of different stress paths on root remain unclear. Moreover, whether how resistance soil liquefaction cyclic loading have rarely been studied. The objective this study is conduct a series undrained triaxial tests investigate monotonic behaviour rooted sand. Roots vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides L.), which has advocated for use in shallow slope stabilisation purposes, were used testing. diameters ranged between 0.3 1.5 mm, while volume ratios (RVRs) 0.23%, 0.45%, 0.67%. It was discovered that effect anisotropic path-dependent. Along extension path, when major principal perpendicular predominant orientation, root-induced increase friction angle approximately 10°. This much greater than along compression where change minimal. presence prevented limited flow failure at some RVRs (CSRs) (which occurred unreinforced sand) mode root-reinforced switched mobility. improved with an volume, improvement more remarkable higher CSRs.

Cyclic and Monotonic Behavior of Strengthened and Unstrengthened Square Reinforced Concrete Columns
The use of composite materials is an effective technique to enhance the capacity of reinforced concrete columns subjected to the seismic loading due to their high tensile strength. In this paper, numerical models are developed in order to predict the experimental behavior of square reinforced concrete columns strengthened by glass fiber reinforced polymer and steel bars and unstrengthened colum...
متن کاملmonotonic and cyclic loading of new frp reinforced concrete cantilever beams
frps (fiber reinforced polymer) possess many favorable characteristics suitable and applicable for construction industry when compared with steel reinforcement. there are new ideas to use frps as longitudinal or transverse reinforcement for new concrete elements particularly for bridge decks or beams. although high tensile strength of frp is main characteristic for applications at both areas, i...
متن کاملBehaviour of Reinforced Fibrous Concrete Beams under Reversed Cyclic Loading
When earthquakes occur, energy released by the earthquake gets induced into the structure as ground motion and this energy has to be dissipated for safety reasons. To release seismic energy, the structure should damage in such a way that on one hand, collapse of structure should not occur and on the other hand, after the earthquake, damage should be economically feasible to repair. To avoid the...
متن کاملComparison of Cyclic and Monotonic Behaviours of Loose Calcareouse Sand Using Hollow Cylinder Torsional Apparatus
Calcareous sediments are located in temperate and tropical areas near offshore hydrocarbon industries and petrochemical reserves such as the Persian Gulf of Iran. These sediments have complicated physical properties which make them completely different from silicate soils. Carbonate sediments are mainly formed by the skeletal remains of marine organisms. Therefore, a wide variety of engineering...
متن کاملNumerical Study of Cyclic Behavior of Shallow Foundations on Sand Reinforced with Geogrid and Grid-Anchor
When the foundations of structures under cyclic loading with amplitudes less than their permissible load, the concern exists often for the amount of uniform and non-uniform settlement of such structures. Storage tank foundations with numerous filling and discharging and railways ballast course under repeating transportation loads are examples of such conditions. This paper deals with the effect...
